Company retreat in Fukui

Our company organizes our annual company retreat, and we went to Fukui last year.

It was my first company retreat since joining Itabashi trading last year, so I was feeling nervous as I headed to the meeting place at Tokyo Station.

None of the other members were late, so we got on the Hokuriku Shinkansen.

As soon as we arrived at Fukui Station, we were welcomed by dinosaurs and went for lunch by bus while listening to the bus guide's talk. After filling our stomachs with a variety of Fukui specialties including fried tofu which is the highest consumption in Japan, and sauce-cutlet rice bowls, we headed to Eiheiji Temple. The weather was nice. Moreover, it was just autumn leaves season, so we took a walk around the temple grounds and looked around, feeling the change of season. We were happy to find five paintings of animals on the ceiling which are said to make wishes come true if we find them.

Next, we saw a variety of exhibits at the Dinosaur Museum. The museum has so much to see inside, so we need more time. Dinosaur objects were created all over town in Fukui since the Hokuriku Shinkansen started operation.

After arriving at our accommodation in Awara Onsen and taking a short rest.

We all enjoyed dinner and banquet. After that we played cards (Old Maid) and karaoke, therefore had a lot of fun deepening our connections.

The next day, we took a stroll around Tojinbo where is spot familiar from suspense dramas in Japan (is that outdated ...?) and the scenery was spectacular. At Kubota Sake Brewery, learning about Japanese sake we toured the brewery, then tried taste of some sake.

Moved on to Maruoka Castle, which is famous for its steep stairs, so there were ropes to climb up.

The weather on that day was also perfect, and the view from the castle tower was amazing.

At the end of this trip, we ate our fill of Echizen crab which had just been released. By the way, Echizen crab is released every year on 6th of November and Echizen crab refers to male snow crab and Seiko crab is female.

After eating our fill, we headed to Fukui Station, bought some souvenirs, and then went home.

With this refreshment, all our employees will continue to work hard to bring you even more fresh, high-quality products.
