Annual Meeting of the Eye Health Industry Subcommittee, National Association of Health Industry and Enterprise Management (Dalian)

At 8:30 a.m. on May 14, the Eye Health Industry Subcommittee, National Association of Health Industry and Enterprise Management held its annual meeting (hereinafter, "OIS") in Dalian. More than 300 experts, scholars, and business owners from all over the country attended the meeting. Many celebrities, including Wu Yupu, vice president and general secretary of the National Association of Health Industry and Enterprise Management, Jia Jianping, vice president, Professor Qu Jia, Dean of the Eye Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University, and Cui Yi, president of the China Optometric & Optical Association, attended the event and delivered speeches.

OIS Chairman Li Jie gave the following words of welcome and gratitude on behalf of the participants.

"The annual meeting started in Guangzhou in 2008, and this year marks its 8th year and we are having the 14th meeting. Special guests are invited to give a lecture at this annual meeting, and I am confident that comments from the attending experts will appeal to the participants in this meeting because the contents are divided into two fields, namely the management of the optometry industry and the optometry specialty. The medical optometry industry is a growing and unstoppable field, and our philosophy is to provide everyone with an opportunity of interaction and cooperation and to evolve together. With the support and cooperation of its members, the Eye Health Industry Subcommittee has grown in size over the past year and now has 119 organization members and 118 individual members. Earlier this year, we participated for the first time in three major U.S. optometry conferences including the COVD with Chinese optometry experts. We also set up a COVD Chinese platform in the United States for the first time to open the door for interactions in the United States among Chinese optometrists present at the meeting. The COVD proposed interaction and tie-up with the Eye Health Industry Subcommittee in China, and a Chinese COVD affiliate organization was set up in response. We have also intensified our membership support activities and successfully applied for 7 projects in national-level ophthalmology and other optometry fields. In 2015, we increased the influence of the Eye Health Industry Subcommittee by making full use of the resources of optometry experts to provide consultation, education, medical examination, and lectures. We are confident that we can keep on evolving with the cooperation of our members and a bunch of companies."

Next, Sun Zhengji, General Manager of Itabashi Medical Device Co., Ltd., Dalian, made a speech on behalf of the sponsors of this year's annual meeting. General Manager Sun said:

"We warmly welcome the participants, experts, and colleagues from all over the country. The Eye Health Industry Association has made substantial contributions to the exponential development of the optical industry in China's medical care system. We hope that we will continue to cooperate with and share wisdom with the Eye Health Industry Subcommittee and support each other to grow together."

[Background to the establishment of the OIS]

The OIS started with "China Medical System Optical Industry Management Forum." In 2008, this symposium was held for the first time in Guangzhou, and participants were Tianjin Eye Hospital, Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-sen University (ZOC), Beijing Tongren Hospital, Shanghai Eye and ENT Hospital, the Eye Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University, and Shanxi Eye Hospital.
On November 20, 2013, Beijing Tongren Hospital Technologies Co., Ltd. applied to the National Association of Health Industry and Enterprise Management for the establishment of the Eye Health Industry Subcommittee. On January 24, 2014, the association unanimously approved this application at a meeting attended by members at the level of vice president and above. On June 25, 2014, the association formally approved the application and agreed to establish the Eye Health Industry Subcommittee. As the reform of the medical and ocular health system progresses and the scale of the market for eye health services expands day by day, the establishment of Eye Health Industry Subcommittee will unite the organizations and individuals involved in the medical and ocular health industry by providing nationwide optometry and eyeglass businesses with diversified services in areas such as resource, policy analysis, and technical support, and will have important implications for the sound development of the optometry industry.
